I was born in Canada and moved to Germany in my early twenties — alone, not knowing the language, figuring out a new country. I spent a decade there and it was one of the most formative and empowering experiences of my life.
I earned my Master's degree in Physical Activity and Health from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. I spent years training Paralympians and professional athletes — learning how to prepare a body, and a mind, for something genuinely hard. Then I became a mother. And everything I knew about preparation took on a completely new meaning.
My first baby was born during CVOID-19. No in-person classes, no community, no village. I practiced yoga online through my pregnancy and did what I could with what I had.
My second birth was different. Three hours. No tearing. That is not luck. That is what intentional preparation does.
I began my postpartum recovery in Germany and experienced firsthand what it looks like when a woman is truly supported after birth — proper rest, real guidance, a system that actually acknowledges what her body just went through. That experience shaped everything about how I support women now.
Then I moved to Texas. Six weeks postpartum. New country, new culture — a newborn and a two year old and no village in sight. I went from one extreme to the other and felt that gap to my core.
So I built what I could not find. A practice rooted in the connection between body, mind, and community — because I know from experience that none of those things work without the others.
I believe that when a woman has agency, feels genuinely supported, and is respected by the people around her — she is far more likely to have a positive experience of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
Your mind and body will last longer than any expensive stroller, clothing, crib, or baby gadget. If you invest in anything this season, let it be your mental and physical health. Your memories of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum will last a lifetime. Those other things will not.
I take a holistic approach that honours the full connection between body, mind, and community. The physical, the emotional, and the social are not separate — they work together. And when all three are supported, women thrive.
This is not about bouncing back. It is not about going harder. It is about going more intentional — and building a version of yourself that is stronger, calmer, and more connected than before.
I hold a Master's degree in Physical Activity and Health from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg in Germany. I am a 200-hour Certified Yoga Teacher with an 85-hour advanced Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga certification, a Certified Doula, and I hold advanced training in hands-on assists.
I am currently completing an advanced breathwork and pranayama certification — because I believe that how you breathe is one of the most powerful tools you can bring into birth, postpartum, and every season of motherhood.
Before working with mothers, I spent years training Paralympians and professional athletes. That background shapes how I approach birth preparation — with the same precision, intention, and respect for the body that elite performance demands. Because growing and birthing a baby is just as physically and mentally demanding as any athletic feat. It deserves the same level of preparation.
The name was not chosen lightly. It carries three distinct meanings — and all three matter.
Mothering the mother. The practice of truly caring for a woman after she gives birth — nurturing her the way a newborn is nurtured. Prioritizing her rest, her recovery, her wellbeing. This is the foundation of everything I do.
Showing yourself grace. This work asks you to be gentle with yourself during some of the most vulnerable, challenging, and beautiful seasons of life. Grace means kindness. Compassion. Understanding. Not perfection.
My grandmother, Grace. In 1953, a twelve year old girl boarded a boat in the Netherlands with her parents and siblings and sailed toward a country she had never seen, whose language she did not speak.
Her name was Gietje. But when she arrived in Canada and started school, the teachers could not pronounce it. So they called her Grace.
Weeks after they arrived, her father died. Grace, her mother, and her brothers were sent to the fields to pick beans to survive.
She did survive. She built a life. She raised a family. And she did all of it with a quiet, unshakeable strength that has echoed through every generation that came after her.
Grace is my middle name. It is her name. And it is the name of this business — because everything I do is rooted in gratitude for the women who came before us, and in hope for the women who will come after.
So in graciousness and gratitude — to all the women who have carried more than they should have had to, and kept going anyway — I give you Mothering With Grace.
